Switchgear

MV industrial switchgear, compact and configurable.

Medium voltage switchgear from 3.6 to 40.5 kV for industrial and commercial switchrooms and private networks.

Fixed and withdrawable cubicles in standard, compact and miniaturised sizes, plus load switch and fuse units, so each switchroom gets the arrangement and footprint it needs.

The range

MV industrial switchgear is configured cubicle by cubicle for incomers, feeders, transformer and motor feeders, bus couplers and metering.

Fixed Type, 3.6 to 12 kV

Box type fixed cubicles for single busbar, sectionalised and bypass busbar systems, rated 630 A to 3,150 A and 20 to 40 kA, with fixed vacuum circuit breakers and mechanical interlocking.

Miniaturised Fixed Cubicles

Cubicles 800 mm wide by 900 mm deep, and 700 mm wide by 950 mm deep with a small three position vacuum circuit breaker rated 630, 1,000 or 1,250 A, for incomers, feeders and bus couplers where space is tight. They also suit connection to ring main cabinets.

Compact Withdrawable Cubicles

Withdrawable 12 kV cubicles 650 mm wide by 1,500 mm deep, and a miniaturised 800 mm by 1,300 mm by 1,885 mm cubicle rated 630 A to 1,250 A, used as incomers and bus couplers with ring main units and consolidated cabinets, or on their own for power distribution.

Load Switch and Fuse Units, 40.5 kV

Combined load switch and fuse units rated 630 A to 1,250 A with a 100 A fuse and 31.5 kA prospective short circuit breaking current, for 35 kV systems, including wall mounted installation in wind turbine towers or as stand alone units in packaged substations.

Outdoor Switch Stations, 12 kV

Load switch or circuit breaker cubicles with primary and secondary equipment in an outdoor enclosure, for placement beside streets, in parks, residential areas, industrial parks and commercial centres.

Design and performance

MV industrial switchgear is chosen for footprint, ease of installation and maintenance, and the interlocking that keeps operators safe.

Mechanical Interlocking

Fixed cubicles carry a five function mechanical interlock that prevents mal operation, with fixed vacuum circuit breakers selected to suit the project.

Compact Footprint

Miniaturised and 650 mm wide compact cubicles fit switchrooms where a standard switchboard cannot, and join to ring main and consolidated cabinets for incomers and bus couplers.

Corrosion Resistant Construction

Cabinet bodies are folded from aluminium zinc coated steel with a double folded side frame, giving strong resistance to oxidation and corrosion and good mechanical strength.

High Breaking Capacity, Low Cut Off

The three position vacuum circuit breaker in miniaturised cubicles has a high breaking capacity and low cut off current, suited to systems with larger short circuit fault currents.

Self Developed Spring Mechanism

The load switch fuse unit uses a spring operating mechanism developed in house, with simple, reliable operation.

Applications

Delstar supplies industrial switchgear for:

01

Factories and processing plants

Incomers, feeders and bus couplers at 11 kV and below, with motor and transformer feeders.

02

Mining and heavy industry

Process and motor feeders where cubicles can be fitted into a switchroom of any size.

03

Commercial buildings, hospitals and data centres

Compact and miniaturised cubicles where switchroom space is limited.

04

Wind farms and renewable generation

Wall mounted units and compact cubicles inside turbine towers and packaged substations.

05

Packaged substations and outdoor switch stations

Compact cubicles, 33 kV load switch fuse units and outdoor stations beside streets, in parks and commercial areas. For utility kiosk and ring main applications see Ring main units.

Sourcing and quality assurance

Our industrial switchgear is produced in a factory that holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification. Cubicle bodies are CNC punched and folded, and finished on an automated powder coating line. Type test reports are available for the range.

For ring main applications see Ring main units. Delstar delivers to site across New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific.
