The range
A cable joint connects two lengths of cable and rebuilds the insulation, the screen and the outer protection, so the joint is as reliable as the cable either side of it. The range covers straight joints for low voltage and medium voltage cables in heat shrink and cold shrink designs.
Customised designs available. If your project needs ratings, features, design requirements or arrangements outside the standard range below, we design and manufacture to your requirements and application. This includes cable sizes, diameters and lengths beyond the standard sizes shown, which we make to order.
Heat Shrink Joints for LV Cables
Joints for 0.6/1 kV cables with one to five cores, with or without armour, including 3+1, 4+1 and 3+2 core cables. The connectors are insulated and sealed with adhesive coated tubes, and the outer tube gives the mechanical protection and chemical resistance of the cable oversheath. The joints are designed to allow the cores to cross.
Heat Shrink Joints for MV Cables
Straight joints for screened single core and three core polymeric insulated cables from 6 to 36 kV, in standard cross sections from 25 to 1200 mm², with larger sizes made to order. Heat shrink insulation tubes rebuild the insulation, a dual layer tube keeps the interface between insulation and screen free of voids, copper mesh rebuilds the screen, and an adhesive coated outer tube seals the joint.
Cold Shrink Joints
One piece silicone rubber joints for 0.6/1 kV cables and for medium voltage cables from 6 kV to 36 kV. The joint body rebuilds the stress control, insulation and insulation screen in a single moulding, and is installed without heat, flame or special tools.
Standard Kits and Complete Kits
Joints are supplied as standard kits, or as complete kits with connectors. Connectors and other accessories can be supplied with the kit, and joints and components for other cable types are available on request.
Specifications
Standard sizes and typical values are shown for each type. Larger, smaller and special sizes are made to order, and final selection is confirmed for each project.

Sourcing and quality assurance
Our cable accessories come from one of the largest manufacturers in the world, with a very large global footprint and more than 20 years developing and making heat shrink, cold shrink and cold applied cable accessories, with its own materials laboratories and high voltage test laboratories. It is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified, and selected 15 kV and 33 kV terminations and joints have been type tested to IEC 60502-4 by an independent high voltage laboratory. Delstar checks each order against your specification and delivers across New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific.
Lifecycle support
- Installer training and certification: we arrange product training and certification for your installers and jointers on these joints, before supply or on site.
- Specification and selection: we help match the joint type, voltage class, cable construction and cross section, noting that the final selection depends on the diameter over the insulation.
- Complete kits: we can supply connectors and earth connection parts with the kits, so the full set for each joint arrives together.
