The range

Prepaid, postpaid and smart three phase meters, direct connected, CT connected and CT/VT connected, plus high accuracy transformer operated meters. They are DLMS/COSEM meters that take a plug in communication module, so one meter platform can run on power line, Wi-SUN RF mesh, LoRaWAN or cellular networks, including NB-IoT and LTE-M, and change later. For single phase meters, see our single phase range.

Customised designs available. If your project needs ratings, features, design requirements or arrangements outside the standard range below, we design and manufacture to your requirements and application.

Three Phase Meters

One three phase meter platform for prepaid, postpaid and smart metering, in the same way as the single phase range. It is built as direct connected, CT connected or CT/VT connected meters, for homes, commercial sites and large industrial customers. Prepaid with STS 6 tokens, postpaid, or smart with communications built in. Prepaid and postpaid meters can be supplied without communications and have plug in G3-PLC, BPLC, Wi-SUN, LoRaWAN or cellular modules, including NB-IoT and LTE-M, fitted at installation or added later. Accuracy is class 1.0, with class 0.5S and 0.2S available, and a polyphase keypad version adds power quality measurement to the 50th harmonic.

Design and performance

Three phase meters for homes, commercial sites, large industrial customers and grid points, in direct connected, CT connected and CT/VT connected versions.

Prepaid or Postpaid in One Meter

Prepayment and postpayment modes can be switched in the field, so one meter serves both customer types and a customer can change over without a replacement.

STS 6 Token Prepayment

Optional 20 digit STS 6 tokens are entered by keypad or sent remotely to transfer credit and parameters, with three levels of low credit alarm, emergency credit and friendly time and days.

Plug In Communication Modules

WAN modules plug into a separate module box, so power line, Wi-SUN RF mesh, LoRaWAN and cellular options, including NB-IoT and LTE-M, are fitted or swapped without a new meter. Local HAN options include RS485, M-Bus, RF and an in-home display.

Open DLMS/COSEM Protocol

Meters speak DLMS/COSEM with password and encrypted authentication, so they work with standards based head-end systems. The DLMS implementation has been conformance tested by the DLMS User Association.

Tamper and Fraud Detection

Meter cover and terminal cover opening, current reversal and strong magnetic fields are detected and logged, with power quality, failure and security events recorded alongside.

Remote Load Control

On direct connected meters, an optional internal bi-stable relay supports remote disconnect and reconnect, over current and power limit control, and automatic disconnection on tamper or no credit.

Local Reading and Setup

An optical port to IEC 62056-21, plus Bluetooth or RF handheld reading, lets crews read, set parameters and update firmware on site with an Android app.

Direct, CT and CT/VT Connection

Direct connected meters suit loads up to 100 A. Above that, CT connected meters read the current through current transformers while taking voltage straight from the supply, and CT/VT connected meters also use voltage transformers, for medium and high voltage metering. The same meter platform covers all three.

Accuracy and Power Quality

Class 1.0 as standard, with class 0.5S and 0.2S available, and class 0.1S and 0.2S for grid point meters. Power quality events are logged, and a polyphase keypad version measures harmonics to the 50th.

Performance Beyond the Standard

Our three phase meters are tested beyond the IEC requirements. They are designed and tested to IEC and European (EN 50470, MID) standards, MID certified with KEMA certification, and built for the overvoltage and surge conditions of utility networks.

Premium Quality, Built for the Long Term

These are amongst the highest quality meters available, premium built for harsh environments and engineered for very long service lives. Class II insulation, IP54 protection and a design life of 15 years or more, with replaceable backup batteries and firmware that is upgraded over the air, keep meters accurate and in service year after year.

Sourcing and quality assurance

Our three phase meters come from an established metering manufacturer that designs its own meters, communication modules and head-end software, and builds them on automated production lines with in-line testing. Meter designs are type tested and certified by SGS to IEC and European (EN 50470, MID) standards, and the DLMS/COSEM implementation is conformance tested by the DLMS User Association. Delstar checks each order against your specification and delivers to site across New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific.
