Metering

Electricity meters to ANSI standards.

Single phase and polyphase electricity meters in ANSI forms, certified to ANSI C12.1 and C12.20. Choose conventional meters, or AMI ready meters that take RS485, cellular or RF communications. These are premium quality meters, among the highest quality available, designed for harsh environments and very long service lives.

The range

Meters for ANSI form sockets, so existing meter bases can stay in place. Conventional meters suit networks that read locally, and AMI ready meters add a communications port for network wide reading.

Customised designs available. If your project needs ratings, features, design requirements or arrangements outside the standard range below, we design and manufacture to your requirements and application.

Single Phase Meters

Electronic single phase meters in ANSI forms 1S and 2S for 120 V and 240 V supply, with class 0.5 accuracy and 100 A or 200 A current class. Choose conventional meters, read on site from the display or optical port, or AMI ready meters (adding form 12S) with an AMI port for RS485, 4G, NB-IoT, LTE-M or RF (Wi-SUN, LoRaWAN) communications and an optional internal 100 A disconnect switch.

Design and performance

ANSI form meters for conventional metering today, with a path to AMI.

Fits Existing ANSI Sockets

Meters are built in the standard ANSI forms, so they replace existing meters on the same meter base without rewiring the installation.

AMI Ready Communications Port

AMI ready meters have a communications port that takes RS485, cellular or RF. Meters can be installed now and connected to an AMI network when the network is ready. See meter communications and gateways for the options.

Remote Disconnect Option

An optional internal disconnect switch allows remote connection and disconnection of the customer supply, in 100 A or 200 A ratings on selected forms.

Class 0.5 and Class 0.2 Accuracy

Class 0.5 accuracy is standard, and polyphase meters are available in class 0.2 for higher value commercial and industrial loads.

Local Reading

An optical port allows meters to be read and set up on site with a handheld terminal.

Premium Quality, Built for Harsh Environments

These are premium quality meters, among the highest quality available, designed for harsh environments and very long service lives. IP54 protection and an optional backup battery keep the meter and its clock running in outdoor, coastal and island conditions, and the design suits the 60 Hz, 120/240 V and 480 V network configurations used across the Pacific.

Surge, Transient and Power Quality Immunity

Built to withstand the high voltage surges and transients found on exposed networks, and tested to ANSI C12.1 and C12.20. This includes high voltage line surges using the 1.2/50 µs and 8/20 µs combination wave at 6 kV and 3 kA and the 100 kHz ring wave at 6 kV, applied for Location Category B3 and high system exposure under ANSI/IEEE C62.41, so lightning induced and switching surges are covered. The meters are also tested for oscillatory surge withstand capability at 2.5 kV to IEEE C37.90.1, electrical fast transient bursts, current surges in ground conductors, voltage interruptions and temporary overloads, so accuracy holds through poor power quality.

Applications

Delstar supplies this equipment for:

01

Meter Replacement on ANSI Bases

Like for like replacement of ageing meters on existing ANSI meter bases and sockets.

Sourcing and quality assurance

Our ANSI meters come from an established metering manufacturer that designs its own meters, communication modules and head-end software. The meter designs have been certified to ANSI C12.1 and ANSI C12.20 accuracy classes 0.2 and 0.5 by a nationally recognised test laboratory in the United States. Delstar checks each order against your specification and delivers to site across New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific.

Lifecycle support

  • Specification and selection: we help match the meter form, voltage, current class and communications port to your meter bases, network and head-end system.
  • Spares and asset management: spare meters and ongoing support through our asset management service.
